We take children from Darras Hall Primary School during term time. For breakfast there is a choice of cereal with fresh milk, toast or crumpets. There’s no need to bring toys as we have a wide range of toys for the children to play with and they can also take part in activities such as drawing. We also have the sofa area where children can relax, read a book or take part in an activity of their choice. Children then have their register together before we walk them to school and they are then safely signed in by their class teachers for the day.
Children have access to an outdoor space and practitioners recognise that the outdoor area is a wonderful place for children to discover and explore, therefore this area provides a variety of natural resources for children to gain skills and face new challenges.
Practitioners encourage the children to be independent, by providing them with waterproof trousers and wellies. This allows the children to choose to dress themselves and explore their world outside come rain or shine! There is no such thing as bad weather only bad clothing!
Our team provide a challenging and stimulating indoor environment which is extremely child-friendly and children are encouraged at all times to lead their own play and learning. Staff are excellent role models who help children to show kindness, empathy and consideration towards others.
Each child has a key worker who will observe and plan a range of learning opportunities that support their interests and next steps. Staff monitor children’s progress throughout the year making sure that all children are making exceptional progress from their starting points.
Our club aims to provide a safe and inspiring environment for the children to play, learn and develop. We pride ourselves in delivering a fun, happy and safe place for children to play with their friends or take part in a wide variety of activities to suit all ages and interests.
After collecting the children from school, we take the register and two ‘buddies’ are chosen to help with tasks throughout the night. We offer a light snack such as fruit and vegetables, cheese and crackers, breadsticks and more.
We offer a wide range of activities from making models from clay to reading in the quiet area, but appreciate that some children are happy to play with their friends. The outdoor area is a perfect place for the children to play as they have access to the wooden adventure playground.
